Linebrink Lets Lead Slip Away
Montreal scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning scoring 3 runs using 3 hits. Scott Rolen started the attack as he hit a bases-empty home run (his 10th of the season). Bobby Abreu came to the plate and slapped a base-hit. Abreu got a great jump and stole second easily. Raul Mondesi stepped in and he bombed a two-run dinger (his 9th of the season). Montreal rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon. Moss(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 5 runs. Francisco Cordero earned his 9th save. The loss was charged to Scott Linebrink(0-2) in relief. He was knocked around, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings.
Sosa Strong In A's Win
Jorge Sosa(1-0) and Darren Oliver(4-3) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with Sosa and the Oakland A's coming out on top of the Montreal Expos 2 to 0. Montreal fell behind quickly as the Oakland offense came through in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Sosa and Oakland. That was all the run support Sosa required. After the 1st inning, neither team was able to score. Sosa got help from Jason Isringhausen who earned his 10th save. Oakland, who had been struggling lately, moved their record to 22-19.
Rondell White leads A's past Montreal
Rondell White blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Great American Bpk as the Oakland A's beat the Montreal Expos 7 to 5. White had a big evening at the plate. He lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 1st inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 9th of the season) in the 6th inning and stroked a one-base hit in the 7th inning. Both teams totaled 9 on the night. Luis Ayala(1-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Ayala got help from Jason Isringhausen who was credited with his 9th save. Terry Mulholland(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially sweet' offered Will Oast. Now, we just have to make this the norm - not the exception!'

A's Win Despite Continued Struggles
Karros Hits Clutch Homerun To Save A'sEric Karros went deep and had 2 RBI at PNC Park as the Oakland A's beat the Arizona club in 10 innings 9 to 8. Both teams were tied at 8 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Oakland pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Karros cracked a solo homerun (his 2nd of the season). Oakland managed 12 in their victory. Jason Isringhausen(2-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Matt Mantei(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. 'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Will Oast sighed. 'That win feels like a tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
A's Road Woes Continue!
LAWRENCE PLAYS SUPERMANBrian Lawrence cracked a homer and had 3 RBI and he allowed 3 hits while blanking Oakland as the Arizona ballclub beat the Oakland A's by a score of 8 to 0. Lawrence(3-2) was simply too much for the Oakland batters. He allowed just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.54 to 3.59. Arizona rapped out 14 hits for the night. Brandon Webb(2-2) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
A's Blow 6 Run Lead To D-Backs

The A's let a six run lead vanish yesterday against the Diamond Backs. Tim Hudson fell apart in the fifth inning as Steve Finley belted a 3 run homerun. The A's bats went silent and the Diamond Backs took the win. Ibanez had four hits, but it was not enough to overcome the poor pitching by the A's.
Tim Hudson watches Steve Finley's HR in the 5th.

Pitching Living Up To Expectations
Carlos Zambrano and Tim Hudson are leading the A's pitching staff with an impressive start. In 4 starts, Zambrano is 3-1 with a 1.78 era. Zambrano has also pitched two shutouts. Coming over from the Twins, Zambrano looks like a great acquistion. Tim Hudson 3-1 with a 1.72 era. The bullpen has seen Hitchcock, a veteran who was considering retirement after not receiving any calls from teams during the offseason shine in his lefty specialist role with the A's.
The offense is having problems in the month of April. Giles and White are the only real producers in the lineup. Eric Karros has
provided some pop off the bench against
lefties.
